Eli Lilly and CompanyApproval of Eli Lilly's weight-loss pill Foundayo in the UK could boost demand for its product.
More than a third of Britons would consider using new weight-loss pills over injections, according to research from RSM UK, signaling potential pressure on consumer-facing firms to adapt to changing demand. The survey found 34% of people would consider weight-loss medication in tablet form, rising to 43% for millennials and 42% for Gen Z, and 58% among those earning over £80,000 annually. Nearly a quarter of respondents said they had used or were using weight-loss injections, with many reporting smaller portion sizes, less snacking, and less alcohol consumption. Jacqui Baker, head of consumer markets at RSM UK, said GLP-1s could become a catalyst for a broader shift in consumer behaviour, with some categories facing pressure while others, like vitamins and supplements, could benefit. Eli Lilly's daily pill Foundayo was authorised last week by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, following approval of a pill version of Novo Nordisk's Wegovy in June.
