Motorola Solutions Targets Defense and Drone Security Growth as Silvus Scales
Motorola Solutions is scaling its recently acquired Silvus Technologies and D-Fend Solutions operations while executing across its mission-critical networks, command center software and video security businesses, Chief Operating Officer Jack Molloy said at a Truist conference. Silvus, acquired in August 2025, is expected to generate about $850 million in 2026 sales based on current capacity, with a new production line added in Culver City, California, and a Salt Lake City facility expected to begin contributing in the first quarter of 2027. Motorola Solutions also recently completed its acquisition of D-Fend Solutions, a cyber-based counter-drone vendor that was the only cyber-mitigation counter-unmanned aircraft system vendor selected in a U.S. Department of Homeland Security counter-drone grant program totaling $1.5 billion. The company reported record second-quarter orders and double-digit order growth in the first half of the year, and has guided for double-digit product growth in the second half, with 2026 expectations of 10% to 11% growth in mission-critical networks, about 11% in video security and about 15% in command center software. Molloy said rising DRAM and flash-memory prices have most affected the video business, prompting three substantial video price increases, while the company has maintained comparable gross margins and delivered 170 basis points of operating-margin expansion this year.

Elroy Air Adds 10 Bristow Early Delivery Slots for Chaparral
Elroy Air announced that Bristow Group Inc. has expanded its early delivery reservations for the Chaparral autonomous cargo aircraft, reserving 10 additional early delivery positions for a total of 15. Bristow previously secured early delivery slots for five Chaparral drones and announced a pre-order agreement for up to 100 Chaparral drones. The announcement follows the first autonomous, uncrewed flight demonstrations conducted in Houma, Louisiana, as part of the Federal Aviation Administration's and the U.S. Department of Transportation's eVTOL Integration Pilot Program, in collaboration with government and industry partners. Bristow Executive Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer David Stepanek said the Louisiana demonstrations gave the company a chance to explore how Chaparral could support a range of transportation and logistics missions, adding that Bristow sees potential applications across commercial, government services, and special mission operations. Elroy Air CEO Dr. Andrew Clare said the company was proud to have partnered with Bristow over the last few years and appreciated Bristow's continued confidence in the platform. The Chaparral is an uncrewed, autonomous VTOL aircraft that carries 500+ pounds of cargo, requires no runways or fixed infrastructure, and has a hybrid-electric powertrain with range of up to 450 miles. Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, the exclusive U.S. manufacturer of Chaparral, will produce the aircraft at its expanding Sacramento, California facility, with the first production aircraft planned for late 2026.
Microchip's SST Unit Wins AnalogAI as memBrain SAGE Customer
Microchip Technology said its Silicon Storage Technology subsidiary has secured AnalogAI as a customer for its memBrain SAGE intellectual property, a design win that expands the company's exposure to edge AI and neuromorphic computing. The technology combines analog compute-in-memory with ultra-low-power operation to support real-time AI inference and learning directly on edge devices, and AnalogAI plans to use it in processors targeting humanoid robots, drones and vehicles. The win builds on Microchip's technology-licensing momentum, with licensing revenues rising to $42.6 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2027 from $33 million a year earlier, and licensee revenues growing to $163.8 million in fiscal 2026 from $131.1 million in fiscal 2025. Microchip faces intensifying competition in edge AI from NXP Semiconductors, which said AI-enabled processors are expected to represent 15% of industrial and IoT processor revenues in 2026, more than doubling from 2025, and from Texas Instruments, which cited strong demand across robotics, industrial automation and energy infrastructure. Microchip shares have risen 9.2% year to date, trailing the broader Zacks Computer and Technology sector's 16.7% gain, and the stock trades at a forward 12-month price/earnings of 17.31X versus the sector's 20.32X. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for Microchip's earnings stands at 92 cents per share, up a couple of cents over the past 30 days and implying 162.86% growth.
