Meta Platforms Inc.Meta sees large enterprise opportunity for AI agents, APIs, compute, and productivity tools, expanding revenue beyond advertising.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg told investors on Wednesday’s second-quarter earnings call that the company sees a large enterprise opportunity beyond its recently launched business AI agents, including selling APIs, compute, and internal productivity tools to large customers. The company initially plans to serve its existing base of advertisers with AI agents that work across messaging apps, getting paid when it delivers results for those businesses. Zuckerberg said Meta is also building coding and internal productivity tools that could eventually be offered to both small and larger businesses, though he acknowledged selling to the enterprise is a different muscle for the company. On compute, Meta sees a chance to sell at a significant premium but will balance short-term profit with long-term infrastructure needs, treating its compute resources as a portfolio. The call also highlighted Meta’s ambitions around agentic AI for consumers, including personal AI agents and AI smartglasses, as well as using large language models to rapidly build new social app experiences.
