The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has cancelled an open meeting scheduled for Friday, which had been expected to consider new cryptocurrency regulations. The SEC said on Thursday that the meeting has been called off, and that the commission is expected to consider whether to propose tailored offering rules for certain investment contracts involving crypto assets. The SEC told Reuters the meeting will be postponed due to unexpected scheduling issues. Meanwhile, the Senate adjourned in August without voting on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, a bill that would provide a comprehensive framework for financial regulators overseeing the crypto industry. SEC Chairman Paul Atkins told CNBC on February 27 that the agency is ready, willing, and able to issue digital asset regulations if the Senate fails to pass the CLARITY Act.
