Bavarian Nordic A/S develops, manufactures, and supplies life-saving vaccines. Its portfolio includes non-replicating smallpox and monkeypox vaccines under the IMVAMUNE, IMVANEX, and JYNNEOS names; a human rabies vaccine under the Rabipur/RabAvert name; a tick-borne encephalitis vaccine under the Encepur name; Vaxchora, an oral cholera vaccine; and Vivotif/Typhoral, an oral typhoid fever vaccine. The company is also developing MVA-BN WEV, which is in a phase 2 trial for the treatment of encephalitis viruses. It operates in the United States, Denmark, Canada, France, Germany, Singapore, England, Finland, Switzerland, Japan, Austria, Italy, Spain, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, Australia, and internationally. Bavarian Nordic A/S was incorporated in 1992 and is headquartered in Hellerup, Denmark.

Bavarian Nordic Appoints Tarja Stenvall as Chief Executive Officer

Bavarian Nordic A/S announced that Tarja Stenvall has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer, effective October 15, 2026, succeeding Paul Chaplin, whose departure was announced earlier this year. Stenvall is a global healthcare executive with over 20 years of leadership experience at Sanofi, AstraZeneca, and Pfizer, most recently serving as Senior Vice President and Head of Global Franchise for diabetes and cardiovascular diseases at Sanofi, where she oversaw global portfolio strategy and long-term planning for a 10 billion euro franchise. She has led organizations of more than 3,000 people and held more than 3 billion euros in profit-and-loss responsibility. Anne Louise Eberhard, Chair of the Board of Directors, said the Board appointed Stenvall following a comprehensive search and expressed appreciation to Paul Chaplin, under whose leadership the company evolved from a research-focused organization into a global vaccines company. Effective October 15, 2026, the Executive Management of Bavarian Nordic will consist of Tarja Stenvall as President and Chief Executive Officer, Henrik Juuel as EVP and Chief Financial Officer, Jean-Christophe May as EVP and Chief Commercial Officer, and Russell Thirsk as EVP and Chief Operating Officer.

Bavarian Nordic wins EU approval for mpox/smallpox vaccine in children aged 2 to under 12

Bavarian Nordic has received European Commission approval to extend its mpox and smallpox vaccine to children aged 2 to under 12 years. The approval, based on a Phase 2 trial of 227 children and 224 adults co-funded by CEPI, showed non-inferior immune responses and a comparable safety profile in children. The vaccine, marketed as IMVANEX in the EU, is now authorized for use from age 2 and up, strengthening its role in global health preparedness. CEO Paul Chaplin noted that children have been disproportionately affected in recent mpox outbreaks, particularly in parts of Africa.

Bavarian Nordic has received Health Canada approval for VIMKUNYA, a single-dose vaccine for the prevention of disease caused by chikungunya virus in individuals 12 years of age and older. The adjuvanted virus-like particle recombinant protein vaccine is the first VLP vaccine approved in Canada for protection against the mosquito-borne virus. This marks the fifth regulatory approval for VIMKUNYA, following authorizations by the U.S. FDA, the European Commission, the UK MHRA, and Swissmedic. Bavarian Nordic reports latest share buy-back transactions

Bavarian Nordic has disclosed new transactions under its ongoing share buy-back program, which runs from June 2 to July 10, 2026, with a total authorization of up to 150 million Danish kroner. Since the last update on June 22, the company repurchased 130,146 shares at an average price of 176.10 kroner, bringing the total accumulated under the program to 462,119 shares at an average price of 179.70 kroner, for a total transaction value of 83,044,793 kroner. Following these purchases, Bavarian Nordic holds 3,200,103 treasury shares, representing 4.04% of its share capital.
