National Beverage Misses Q1 Earnings Estimates as Margins Slide
National Beverage reported fiscal Q1 2027 earnings of $0.50 per share, missing analyst estimates of $0.59, sending the stock down 6.3% in early Nasdaq trading Friday before it recovered to trade up 1.4%. Sales were essentially flat year over year, up less than one-tenth of one percent at $330.7 million, while profits slid nearly 17%. Management blamed elevated input costs for a steep decline in profit margins, with gross profit margin slipping to 35%, and said elevated aluminum commodity costs and tariffs subtracted 600 basis points from margins, alongside higher fuel, freight and ingredient costs. National Beverage offset higher input costs by raising prices, which depressed demand and caused volumes sold to decline. Management warned it is struggling to deal with so many complications at once, eating some tariff costs itself while passing others on to customers.
