WisdomTree and MoonPay Partner on Tokenized Money Market Funds

WisdomTree and MoonPay announced a strategic partnership on September 17 aimed at expanding access to tokenized funds in the United States and supporting the management of stablecoin reserves. At the center is the tokenized money market fund WisdomTree Treasury Money Market Digital Fund, or WTGXX. WisdomTree will build an acquisition channel using MoonPay's technology and infrastructure, extending distribution from its own channel through its securities subsidiary to MoonPay, which has more than 35 million accounts. Eligible U.S. investors will be able to put money into the tokenized money market fund through infrastructure they already use, and for MoonPay, WTGXX becomes a means of managing reserves within a regulated and highly transparent structure. According to RWA.xyz, the tokenized U.S. Treasury fund market stood at 15.4 billion dollars as of September 17, shrinking about 4.9% over 30 days, and within that market WTGXX ranked fifth by ticker at 1.23 billion dollars, with net inflows of 466 million dollars over the most recent 30 days.

21 Major Financial Institutions Team Up to Launch Stablecoin Venture

Twenty-one major financial institutions, including Bank of America, Capital One, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, Fidelity, WisdomTree, Deutsche Bank, Santander, UBS, and MUFG, have committed to establishing a new stablecoin company during the second half of 2026, subject to closing conditions. The consortium, which has grown from an initial ten institutions, plans to launch a dollar-denominated stablecoin by early 2027, with a euro stablecoin as the next priority and additional G7 currencies potentially following. The tokens are intended to operate on public blockchains rather than private bank networks, and potential use cases include cross-border payments, digital asset settlement, wholesale and institutional transactions, and retail payments. The stablecoins will be compliant with U.S. GENIUS and European MiCA regulations. This move intensifies competition for existing stablecoin issuers like Circle and Tether, as traditional financial institutions seek to capture a share of the lucrative stablecoin market.

Bitwise Says Crypto Can Advance Even If CLARITY Act Stalls

Matt Hougan, Chief Investment Officer at Bitwise, said the crypto industry will keep moving forward even if the CLARITY Act risks failing this week and becoming a zombie bill. He believes crypto has advanced too far to be put back in the bottle, and Washington is always late to major technological shifts. The Senate faces an August 5 deadline to push through this key crypto market structure bill before the summer recess. If it fails, it could be delayed until next year as members focus on the November midterm elections. Galaxy Research has lowered the probability of the bill passing in 2026 to 30 percent, while Polymarket gives only a 23 percent chance of it being signed into law this year, down from 82 percent in February. Greg Cipolaro, Global Head of Research at NYDIG, said the bill still lacks sufficient bipartisan support, and without signs of progress from the White House, Senate Democrats will block a cloture vote. Hougan remains hopeful the bill could pass in September or December during a lame duck session, possibly included in an omnibus package. But if it fails, the industry will revert to the joint SEC-CFTC interpretive policy issued in March, which classifies Bitcoin and other assets as digital commodities, replacing the 2019 SEC staff guidance. SEC Chair Paul Atkins confirmed the agency is ready to issue rules addressing the same issues as CLARITY, but agency rules are not as durable as legislation and could be challenged in court or reversed by a new administration. Ryan Louvar, Chief Legal Officer at WisdomTree, argued that the absence of a law will hinder the market because participants cannot predict which agency's rules will apply. Hougan concluded that crypto will be fine because there are still two and a half years to accelerate before a new administration might appoint a new SEC, and he stressed that crypto has enough momentum to overhaul finance for decades to come no matter what happens.

Speaking at a TMX VettaFi Midyear Market Outlook Symposium, Schwartz pointed to massive semiconductor supply chain investments in Japan as global tech firms diversify away from Taiwan, and noted that the WisdomTree Japan Hedged Equity Fund (DXJ) strips out yen exposure to avoid currency drag, while the WisdomTree Japan Opportunities Fund (OPPJ) offers broad sector exposure across tech, industrials, and financials. He also discussed the newly launched WisdomTree Asia Defense Fund (WDAF), which excludes China and targets increasing military budgets in South Korea, India, and Japan, with South Korea anchoring over a third of the portfolio. Invesco Launches BulletShares Treasury Bond ETFs as Laddering Strategies Gain Popularity

Invesco introduced its latest suite of BulletShares Treasury bond ETFs, expanding its fixed-income lineup with defined maturity funds that use a laddering strategy. These ETFs hold bonds maturing in specific calendar years, reinvesting proceeds into later-dated bonds as they mature, providing a cushion against default risk and offering visibility in a diversified portfolio. The popularity of such products is growing amid rising interest rates, falling bond prices, and macroeconomic uncertainty, with Vanguard launching its own BondBuilder funds earlier this year. Other major players include State Street with active target maturity ETFs since 2024, WisdomTree with its Core Laddered Municipal Fund introduced last year, and BlackRock with iBonds ETFs allowing ladder customization up to 10 years. Jason Bloom, Invesco's head of fixed income ETF strategy, noted that bond ladders help mitigate the impact of defaults in low-yielding portfolios and provide a hedge during periods of rolling recessions.
