It operates through four segments: Sales of Piped Gas Business, Gas Connection, Renewable Energy Business, and Extended Business. Its activities include gas pipeline construction, photovoltaic power and related energy services, sales of gas-related household appliances, value-added services, smart energy solutions, financing, engineering works, upstream and midstream project services, natural gas distributed energy, natural gas source procurement, and vehicle gas refilling stations. The company was formerly known as Towngas China Company Limited and changed its name to Towngas Smart Energy Company Limited in December 2021. Founded in 1998, it is headquartered in North Point, Hong Kong, and operates as a subsidiary of Hong Kong & China Gas (China) Limited.
