Nippon Shokubai Co., Ltd. manufactures and sells chemical products in Japan and internationally, operating through two segments: Materials Business and Solutions Business. The Materials Business produces acrylic acids, acrylates, superabsorbent polymers, ethylene oxides, glycols, ethanolamine, maleic anhydride, process catalysts, MMA monomers and polymers, and other chemicals. The Solutions Business produces polymers for concrete admixtures, glycol ether, secondary alcohol ethoxylates, water-soluble polymers, pharmaceutical intermediates, electronic information materials, iodine compounds, resins for adhesives and paints, ethyleneimine derivatives, processed adhesive products, automotive catalysts, De-NOx catalysts, dioxins decomposition catalysts, waste gas treatment equipment, wet air oxidation catalysts, and battery materials. It also provides acrylic esters, maleimides, cyclic amides, initiators, water-based, solvent-based and soluble polymers, inorganic and organic composite fine particles, and liquefied gas and fuel cell materials. In addition, the company produces and markets industrial materials and civil engineering and construction materials based on synthetic rubber latex or acrylic emulsion, as well as acrylic emulsion and fine products. The company was formerly known as Nippon Shokubai Kagaku Kogyo Co., Ltd. and changed its name to Nippon Shokubai Co., Ltd. in 1991. It was incorporated in 1941 and is headquartered in Osaka, Japan.
