Wisconsin mutual North Shore Bank to acquire 1895 Bancorp for up to $103.8 million

Depositor-owned North Shore Bank has agreed to buy stock-traded 1895 Bancorp and its 130-year-old subsidiary PyraMax Bank in a deal valued at up to $103.8 million. North Shore will pay between $18.40 and $18.66 per share, deepening its footprint in southeastern Wisconsin and creating a combined institution with approximately $3.1 billion in assets. The acquisition comes about 16 months after 1895 hired Keefe Bruyette & Woods to explore strategic options, following its struggles as a public company after raising $57 million in two stock offerings. The Midwest has been the most active region for bank M&A, with 116 deals announced since the start of 2025, according to Seaport Research Partners analyst Laurie Hunsicker. The merger is expected to close in the fourth quarter.
