Halyk Bank First-Half Net Income Falls 15.3%

Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan reported a 15.3% year-on-year decline in net income for the first half of 2026. Net interest income grew 2.6%, but net interest margin compressed to 6.8% from 7.3% a year earlier, while net fee and commission income fell 19.6%. Operating expenses rose 5.5%, pushing the cost-to-income ratio to 19.2% from 17.2%. Total assets increased 5.4% year-to-date, and loans to customers grew 13.2% year-on-year, with the SME gross loan portfolio up 24.7%.
