KT Corporation provides integrated telecommunications and platform services in South Korea, Asia, and internationally. Its offerings include mobile voice and data services on 5G, 4G LTE, and 3G W-CDMA networks; fixed-line and VoIP telephony; broadband and data communication services; and media and content services such as IPTV, satellite TV, digital music, e-commerce, and online advertising. The company also provides credit card processing, IT and network services, satellite services, and sells handsets and telecommunications equipment. It engages in real estate development, telecommunication facility maintenance, software development, call center, system integration, cloud, data center, and submarine cable businesses. Formerly Korea Telecom Corp., it changed its name to KT Corporation in March 2002, was founded in 1981, and is headquartered in Seongnam-si, South Korea.

South Korea Selects SKT-KT-Kakao to Lead AI Development for the Public

South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) announced today that it has selected three private consortiums, led by SK Telecom, KT Corp, and Kakao Corp, to jointly develop artificial intelligence (AI) services accessible to all citizens under the "AI for All" project. Each consortium will receive a total of 512 Nvidia B200 graphics processing units (GPUs), and the government will fully fund the launch and operation of these services next year. The ministry plans to sign agreements with each consortium in September and aims to officially launch the services by the end of this year. The project, initiated in July, aims to drive the country toward an AI-based society, requiring developers to use domestic AI models for at least 50% of the system. A total of six consortiums applied for the competition.

South Korea fines KT Corp $37.4 million over customer data breach

South Korea's privacy regulator has fined KT Corporation 54 billion won, equivalent to $37.4 million, over a customer data breach that exposed personal information and payment details of more than 16,600 mobile subscribers. The investigation found hackers stole customers' personal data and payment information, using the stolen details to make about 240 million won in unauthorized payments, with the breaches taking place during 2024 and 2025. Separately, the regulator said it found multiple malware infections on KT's servers and alleged the company tried to cover up the breach and failed to notify authorities as required by law.
