Wrangler Reorganizes Women's and Men's Businesses to Fuel Growth

Kontoor Brands is reorganizing Wrangler to operate its women's and men's businesses separately as it sharpens focus on the denim brand after shedding Lee. CEO Scott Baxter said the move gives the men's business autonomy while accelerating investment in women's, which accounts for 10 percent of Wrangler revenue despite women comprising over half of the U.S. denim market. Wrangler global revenue rose about 3 percent in the first half of 2026, driven by women's, direct-to-consumer, and non-denim categories, while its Western business posted low-double-digit growth. The company appointed Jamie Fason as VP and general manager of Wrangler Female and is investing in product development, design, merchandising, and marketing. Wrangler also secured two Texas retail locations slated to open in early 2027 as it builds a full-price store fleet in its heartland.

Kontoor Brands Fair Value Estimate Rises to $96.40 After Lee Sale and Q2 Update

Kontoor Brands' fair value estimate has increased from $92.67 to $96.40 following updates related to the Lee divestiture, second-quarter earnings, margin expectations, and longer-term EPS potential into 2027. UBS, BTIG, Wells Fargo, Barclays, and JPMorgan all raised their price targets, with Wells Fargo citing management commentary that referenced EPS of more than $7.00 after the Lee sale, compared with a Street view of less than $6.50. BTIG credited the earnings beat in part to gross margin of 53.8%, above its 50.5% estimate, tied to channel and product mix, pricing, and Project Jeanius initiatives. Goldman Sachs removed Kontoor Brands from its US Conviction List in June 2026 without detailed reasoning. Revenue growth expectations now reflect a 7.66% fall, compared with a prior 6.85% fall, while the net profit margin estimate shifted from 12.71% to 14.54% and the future P/E multiple moved from 19.08x to 17.01x.

Kontoor Brands Raises Full-Year Outlook on Wrangler, Helly Hansen Strength

Kontoor Brands raised its full-year outlook after a strong second quarter of 2026. The Wrangler and Helly Hansen owner now forecasts revenue of $2.66 billion to $2.71 billion, up 12 to 13 percent from the prior year, and adjusted EPS of $5.25 to $5.35, up from a prior range of $5.15 to $5.25. The outlook includes about $0.55 of unmitigated overhead previously allocated to the Lee business, which Authentic Brands Group agreed to acquire for up to $1 billion in May. Kontoor expects the Lee divestiture to be immaterial to EPS over 12 to 18 months and plans to use proceeds for a $400 million accelerated share repurchase and voluntary debt payments, returning more than $900 million of capital in 2026. Second-quarter revenue rose 19 percent to $584 million, with Wrangler global revenue up 2 percent to $469 million and Helly Hansen revenue at $114 million. The company also appointed Joseph Alkire as president and chief financial officer, effective immediately.

Wrangler Launches Toughlite Cowboy Cut Denim at $69.99

Wrangler, a Kontoor Brands label, launched Toughlite, a lighter-weight Cowboy Cut denim line engineered for enhanced airflow, comfort, and durability at a retail price of US$69.99 in July 2026. The tech-focused refresh of Wrangler's core fits highlights Kontoor's push to align long-standing Western staples with evolving consumer expectations for comfort and performance. The launch reinforces the investment thesis that Western heritage can coexist with performance expectations, though it does not eliminate the risk that younger consumers drift toward non-denim alternatives. Kontoor's narrative projects $2.7 billion revenue and $343.5 million earnings by 2029, implying a 6.8% yearly revenue decline and a $65.3 million earnings increase from $278.2 million today. Some analysts were already assuming earnings could reach about US$392.0 million by 2029, yet Toughlite and the risk of sustainability-driven denim fatigue show how sharply opinions can differ.

Bearish thesis on Kontoor Brands warns of margin pressure and earnings risk

A bearish thesis on Kontoor Brands, Inc. argues the market is underestimating near-term margin pressure and earnings risk driven by rising cotton prices and structural limitations. Wrangler, which contributes roughly three quarters of segment profit, is seen as over-earning at a 23% margin peak, with higher cotton costs expected to create a $0.30 to $0.40 EPS headwind versus guided earnings. The Helly Hansen acquisition, purchased for roughly $900 million, is expected to disappoint due to weak U.S. demand and limited synergies. Reported earnings quality is questioned as restructuring add-backs inflate adjusted EPS, making valuation multiples appear cheaper than reality. The downside case points to margin normalization, EPS downgrades, and multiple compression, with fair value estimated in the low to mid $60s.
