Kazera secures mining right for Sea Concession 2A

Kazera Global has received formal approval for a mining right over Sea Concession 2A, a heavy mineral sands asset in South Africa's Northern Cape, granted by the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy to its wholly owned subsidiary Whale Head Minerals. The right, valid for an initial ten years with renewal option, covers approximately 3,095 hectares and grants exclusive rights to mine garnet, monazite, zirconium, rutile, titanium dioxide-rich leucoxene, and other heavy minerals. Under existing arrangements, Whale Head Minerals will receive a payment of $1.75 million (R28.13 million) from strategic partner South Africa AT Investments upon formal execution, with commercial production targeted for the first quarter of 2027 and a production increase to at least 10,000 tonnes per month of concentrate by the second quarter. A technical report from August 2026 identified an inferred mineral resource of about 1.31 million tonnes of economic heavy minerals within 1.42% of the licence area, with an indicative in-situ value of $369.3 million, while the remainder holds a further 265.2 million tonnes of heavy mineral sands as a geological target. Kazera CEO Richard Jennings called the approval the most significant milestone in the company's history, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
