Xsolla Report Shows Direct-to-Consumer Revenue Surged 26% as Mobile Market Stagnates
Xsolla released a new industry report showing that direct-to-consumer commerce has become a core growth driver for video game studios. U.S. D2C revenue grew 26% in 2025 while overall mobile game revenue rose just 0.2%, and the top 100 titles saw D2C earnings jump 38% year over year. The report highlights that leading publishers are rapidly scaling D2C share, with Playtika reaching $814.5 million in D2C revenue and targeting 40% long-term, while others like Stillfront Group approach 39% and Huuuge Games surpass 40%. Regulatory changes across the U.S., EU, and Japan are accelerating external payments, and emerging markets in Southeast Asia and Latin America represent a projected $79 billion opportunity. Xsolla President Chris Hewish said the combination of regulatory shifts, infrastructure maturity, and publisher adoption has moved D2C from an edge case to a core operating model.
