Ramsdens agrees £206 million takeover by FirstCash, shares jump 28%

Ramsdens Holdings shares surged 28% to 580 pence after it agreed to a recommended cash takeover by US pawnbroking group FirstCash, valuing the company at around £206 million. Ramsdens agrees to £206 million takeover by US pawnbroker FirstCash

Ramsdens has agreed to be bought by US pawnbroking rival FirstCash for £206 million. Shareholders will receive up to 609p per share, a 35% premium to the latest closing price, and the deal will take the firm off London's Alternative Investment Market. FirstCash, which operates around 3,300 sites internationally and is listed on Nasdaq, said acquiring Ramsdens' 174 stores will expand its UK presence, especially in northern England and Scotland. The acquisition includes Ramsdens' pawnbroking, precious metals buying, jewellery retail, and foreign exchange businesses. Ramsdens' share price jumped about 30% following the announcement.

FirstCash to acquire U.K. pawn operator Ramsdens in £206M all-cash deal

FirstCash Holdings has agreed to acquire Ramsdens Holdings, a U.K. pawn store operator, in a recommended all-cash deal valued at approximately £206 million, or $273 million. Under the agreement, FirstCash, through its wholly owned U.K. subsidiary Chess Bidco Limited, will pay 600 pence per Ramsdens share, while Ramsdens shareholders will also receive an interim dividend of up to 9 pence per share payable on October 9, 2026. The transaction expands FirstCash’s presence in the U.K. pawn market following its earlier acquisition of H&T Group and further strengthens its international pawn operations.
