Sagimet Biosciences Inc. is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company that develops fatty acid synthase (FASN) inhibitors for diseases caused by dysfunctional metabolic and fibrotic pathways. Its lead drug candidate, Denifanstat, is an oral, once-daily selective FASN inhibitor for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis, acne, and select cancers. The company also develops TVB-3567 for acne and other oncology programs, including solid tumors and glioblastoma. Formerly 3-V Biosciences, Inc., it changed its name to Sagimet Biosciences Inc. in August 2019, was incorporated in 2006, and is headquartered in San Mateo, California.

Sagimet Biosciences Joins Russell 3000 and 2000 Indexes

Sagimet Biosciences has been added to the Russell 3000 Index and the small-cap Russell 2000 Index as part of the 2026 Russell indexes reconstitution. The inclusion, effective June 29, automatically places the clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company in either the Russell 1000 or Russell 2000 and across value or growth tilt indexes. CEO David Happel said the milestone reflects the company's progress and noted that its lead drug candidate denifanstat, if approved, would be the first innovative oral treatment for acne vulgaris in patients 12 and older in more than forty years. Sagimet has capital to fund operations through 2028, including a planned Phase 3 clinical trial for denifanstat in acne.
