DeFi Development Launches Real-Time Solana Data Platform

DeFi Development Corp has launched State of Solana, a public platform providing real-time insights into Solana's network activity, including market, staking, validator, and ecosystem data. The dashboard tracks metrics such as SOL returns, transaction throughput, staking yields, inflation, and network uptime, and offers historical data and comparisons with other blockchains. Chief marketing officer Pete Humiston said the platform lets investors see the underlying data supporting the company's bullish thesis on Solana. The launch follows DeFi Development's accumulation of a large Solana treasury, holding 2.29 million SOL valued at roughly $208 million as of August 10, and its $200 million at-the-market equity program initiated in May. The company reported $2.66 million in first-quarter revenue and a net loss of $83.4 million, largely due to declines in digital asset values. Its shares are down over 15% year-to-date and more than 70% over the past 12 months, trading at $4.52.

SOL Spot ETFs See Six Consecutive Days of Inflows, Cumulative Total Exceeds $1.2 Billion

On August 25, US Solana (SOL) spot ETFs saw inflows of $25.6 million (approximately ¥4.096 billion), marking the sixth consecutive trading day of net inflows. On August 24, the largest inflow of the year was recorded at $33.5 million (approximately ¥5.36 billion). As of August 25, cumulative net inflows reached $1.22 billion (approximately ¥192 billion), setting a new record high. Trading volume also reached its highest level since October 2025. The main driver was Bitwise's Bitwise Solana Staking ETF (BSOL), which saw inflows of $25 million (approximately ¥4 billion) on August 24, bringing its cumulative total to $968.6 million (approximately ¥154.9 billion), accounting for about 80% of all SOL spot ETFs. This is supported by a broader market rebound, with Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) spot ETFs also seeing continued inflows. SOL itself briefly recovered to the $100 level for the first time since February, and on-chain data shows that transaction volume in July reached a record 4.2 billion transactions (up 13.5% month-over-month). Tokenized real-world assets (RWA) on Solana have reached approximately $4 billion (approximately ¥640 billion).

X may soon introduce a trading button for crypto assets

Nikita Bier, a former product lead at X and current advisor, revealed in a post on X that a trading button for crypto assets will appear soon. He said he developed Cashtags, X's stock and crypto information feature, noted that Solana and Ethereum charts can now be added to posts, and stated that a trading button will also be introduced soon. X rolled out Cashtags to iPhone users in the United States and Canada in April, and in Canada there is already a mechanism where a Trade button takes users to the online brokerage Wealthsimple to execute trades. It is not clear whether this trading button refers to an expansion of supported regions or a new feature, and it is not an official announcement by X.

Crypto ETFs Lose Bull-Market Halo as Outflows Test Demand

Crypto ETFs have lost their bull-market halo as outflows test demand, with digital asset investment products recording eight consecutive weeks of withdrawals totaling a record $8 billion before inflows returned in July and early August. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted roughly $865 million between August 3 and August 7, followed by a combined net withdrawal of about $198 million from August 10 through August 12. Wirex Head of Trading Yves Renno described the outflows as a healthy correction, while Zoomex CMO Fernando Lillo Aranda said renewed demand depends on investors becoming comfortable with risk again. Phemex CEO Federico Variola noted that capital entering Bitcoin through ETFs has not rotated into other tokens, and U.S. Bitcoin ETFs have accumulated roughly $52 billion of net inflows since launch compared to about $1.13 billion for Solana ETFs.

Solana Shortens Block Production Time to 350 Milliseconds

Jacob Creech, Vice President of Technology at the Solana Foundation, revealed on August 21 that Solana's slot time has been reduced to 350 milliseconds. This is the first reduction since the network's inception and marks the first step in the transition from 400 milliseconds to 200 milliseconds based on the approved proposal SIMD-0525. The reduction will proceed in four stages of 50 milliseconds each, with each stage activated in separate epochs through individual feature gates. The goal is to activate all four stages in the Agave v4.2 client developed by Anza, though the schedule is said to be tentative. The foundation cited improved competitiveness and censorship resistance from lower latency as reasons, and while some see limited direct impact on the price of SOL, it is considered material that supports the narrative of being the fastest chain.

Solana Enters Bull Market Territory as SEC Proposes New Crypto Framework

Solana has surged nearly 25% in the past week to hit $90 per token after the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission proposed a new regulatory framework for crypto assets. Trading volumes jumped almost 50% to $9.5 billion, accounting for 17% of the asset's circulating market cap, as the move above key resistances triggered a massive short squeeze. Over $4.6 billion in short positions were liquidated in three days, including a $2.9 billion single-day wipeout on August 18 that ranked as the eighth largest in crypto history. Net inflows to Solana-linked ETFs reached $38 million, the highest since May, and a crossover between the 30-day and 50-day moving averages for daily active users previously preceded a rally from $145 to $245 in 2025. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index has jumped from around 36 to 76, signaling greed, though analysts expect a near-term pullback to the 200-day exponential moving average, possibly as low as $83, as the Relative Strength Index enters overbought territory.

Solana Company Opposes SOL Inflation Curb and Fee Change Proposals

Solana Company, a listed treasury firm for the cryptocurrency Solana, announced on the 21st its opposition to proposals to curb SOL inflation and change fees. Of three governance proposals set for voting starting August 22, it opposed SGP-0002, which would raise the disinflation rate from 15% to 30% annually, and SGP-0003, which would make transaction fees vary according to network resource consumption, while supporting SGP-0001, which establishes a new governance system. The company explained that its opposition stems not from the proposals' intent but from their timing, as continuity of rules is considered important at a critical stage when institutional adoption is advancing. Of its second-quarter revenue of 2.526 million dollars, 2.512 million dollars came from staking, and the company is concerned about the impact of lower yields and fee variability on financial forecasts and institutional investors' decision-making.

Shinhan partners with Solana to launch tokenized fund

Shinhan Asset Management, one of South Korea's largest financial institutions, announced the signing of a four-party memorandum of understanding with the Solana Foundation, Etherfuse, and Orca to prove the concept of issuing and distributing a tokenized fund denominated in South Korean won. Modeled on BlackRock's BUIDL fund, it will allow foreign institutional investors to purchase an ultra-short-term bond fund denominated in won and managed by Shinhan, with the underlying assets converted into tokens. The collaboration comes after South Korea's parliament passed a framework law on security token offerings in January, which will take effect in February 2027 and has prompted several financial giants to prepare tokenized securities services. Shinhan Asset Management had approximately 133.6 trillion won, or 96.6 billion US dollars, in assets under management as of August 2026.

Rain Launches Agentic Payments Alliance With 26 Founding Members

Rain launched the Agentic Payments Alliance on August 18, 2026, a coalition of 26 founding members including Visa, Mastercard, Fiserv, Circle, and Solana, to define standards for agentic commerce. The alliance focuses on agent authorization, fraud detection, loyalty integration, identity standards, and regulatory advocacy, aiming to solve friction points that prevent autonomous software from spending money at scale. McKinsey projects $3-5 trillion in global agentic commerce by 2030, and the alliance is moving faster than federal regulation, with the CLARITY Act still stuck in Congress. Visa's Agentic Ready Program has already brought over 85 partners into certification, and the APA aims to build broader cross-industry consensus for interoperability. The alliance faces tension between crypto-native protocols and traditional payment processors, but its goal is to preempt regulatory chaos by building infrastructure before federal oversight can intervene.

Analysts Say ISM Could Spark Altcoin Season 2026

Analysts at Coinpedia say the US ISM manufacturing index could be a key trigger for a new altcoin season in 2026, pointing to 58 as the decisive level that previously helped altcoins significantly outperform Bitcoin in 2017 and 2020. Bitcoin's market share in 2025 fell only from about 66% to 57%, a much narrower decline than in prior cycles. Analysts are also watching South Korean exports and Taiwan's export prices, given Taiwan's role as a major semiconductor chip exporter, as leading signals, and see Ethereum and Solana as the strongest altcoins if Bitcoin begins to slow. The total altcoin market value currently stands at 161 billion dollars, near support at 160 to 165 billion dollars, and could rise to 320 to 340 billion dollars if that price base holds.

Solana outage temporarily takes about 29% of all staked SOL offline

On August 12, 28.83% of SOL staked on the Solana network was temporarily offline, coming within about 4.5 percentage points of the 33.34% level that would affect transaction finality, staking protocol Marinade Finance said on its official X account. According to Marinade, about 90 validators were affected. Around 118.89 million SOL was connected to communications infrastructure provider Teraswitch's AS20326, and 94% of that went offline, while validators using other infrastructure also experienced outages during the same period. In an incident report, Teraswitch said an abnormal routing announcement originating from its Miami location propagated to Europe and Asia, causing connection failures at multiple sites, and that connectivity was restored by 4:16:15 a.m. UTC on the same day, or 1:16:15 p.m. Japan time. On Solana, block finality requires votes from more than two-thirds of staked supply, so if more than one-third of stake cannot vote normally, finality is affected. In this case, that threshold was not reached and the network itself continued operating. No major impact on the SOL price was confirmed, and CoinMarketCap's chart showed no sharp drop corresponding to the outage period. Teraswitch said it has changed configurations at all locations to prevent recurrence, but the root cause of the abnormal routing announcement remains under investigation, and a detailed cause analysis will be published later.

Solana community weighs proposals to boost token burns 14-fold and accelerate disinflation

Solana's community is considering two protocol proposals that would alter its tokenomics. SIMD-0550 would double the annual disinflation rate to 30% from 15%, pulling the terminal inflation rate of 1.5% forward to 2029 from 2032 and erasing 18.9 million SOL of scheduled new issuance. Both proposals would be bullish for the coin if passed, but similar past attempts have failed, and passage is not guaranteed.

Solana, the world's second-largest developer-driven proof-of-stake blockchain after Ethereum, has fallen to about $73 from its record high of $295 on January 18, 2025. The token's more than 40% decline this year reflects bearish concerns over its reliance on speculative meme coins, inflationary tokenomics, and competition from Ethereum's layer-2 networks. Bulls point to the upcoming Alpenglow upgrade, growing adoption by fintech firms like Circle, Visa, PayPal, and Stripe, and potential regulatory clarity from the stalled CLARITY Act as catalysts for a recovery. However, fears of interest rate hikes continue to chill the broader crypto market, and Solana may struggle to rebound as quickly as blue-chip tokens like Bitcoin and Ether. Solana Targets 150-Millisecond Finality and Tokenomics Overhaul by 2028

Solana developers are advancing a multi-year roadmap that aims to slash transaction finality to roughly 150 milliseconds and reshape the token’s supply dynamics. The Alpenglow consensus upgrade, now in testing and expected on mainnet by late 2025, is designed to cut finality from about 12.8 seconds and enable parallel processing and smart-contract-controlled transaction ordering. Two governance proposals could further alter SOL’s economics: SIMD-0550 would accelerate the annual reduction in new token issuance from 15% to 30%, keeping roughly 18.9 million SOL out of circulation, while SIMD-0553 would raise the daily token burn rate from about 648 SOL to between 7,500 and 9,000. Franklin Templeton says AI agents will be blockchain's killer use case

Sandy Kaul, head of digital assets and innovation at Franklin Templeton, has expressed the view that AI agents will become the next killer use case for blockchain and crypto assets. She argues that as the AI agent economy expands, demand will grow for blockchain protocols that handle machine-to-machine micropayments. Traditional payment networks like Visa require one to three business days for settlement and are structurally unsuited to an agent economy that generates vast numbers of micropayments, whereas high-speed chains such as Aptos, Solana, and BNB Chain can process transactions in seconds and simultaneously handle recording and settlement, making them a good fit. Citing forecasts referenced in the report, Kaul said agent-based commerce could reach a scale of three to five trillion dollars by 2030, and that investors will need to buy the crypto assets and altcoins issued by decentralized networks in order to capture their value.
