Safe Pro Group has been selected by AFWERX for a Small Business Innovation Research contract to develop an AI dataset using images of Foreign Object Debris commonly encountered on U.S. Air Force and civilian airfields. The award could significantly expand the applicability of the company's proprietary computer vision technology beyond battlefield and post-conflict zone missions into defense and commercial airfield operations. The contract was issued through the Department of the Air Force's Open Topic SBIR program, which AFWERX uses to fund emerging technologies. Safe Pro's platform, powered by its patented SPOTD technology, uses AI and machine learning to rapidly detect small threats such as landmines and unexploded ordnance. Chairman and CEO Dan Erdberg said the award represents a significant new potential market opportunity for the company's AI-powered image analysis platform.
