AbbVie looks like the more attractive Dividend King compared to Johnson & Johnson based on valuation and dividend yield. AbbVie recently traded at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 18, above its five-year average of 13, and offered a 2.7% dividend yield. Johnson & Johnson carried a forward P/E of 22, well above its five-year average of 16, with a 2.1% yield. AbbVie also agreed to acquire Apogee Therapeutics for $10.9 billion, adding the eczema drug zumilokibart to its immunology pipeline. Both pharmaceutical giants appear somewhat overvalued, but AbbVie’s lower valuation multiple and higher yield give it a slight edge.
