Tesla is headed to a civil rights trial over racial harassment and discrimination claims tied to its Fremont Assembly plant, where Black workers allege racist slurs, graffiti and unequal treatment on the factory floor. Separately, Tesla and Sunrun coordinated what they describe as the largest residential distributed home battery dispatch event so far in California, a 580 megawatt event. Tesla operates as both an electric vehicle manufacturer and an energy storage provider, so the trial and the grid event both sit within core parts of its business model. The company's next detailed update on Energy Generation and Storage is expected to show how often these virtual power plant style dispatches occur and what they contribute to segment gross profit, alongside any quantified disclosure of legal provisions tied to workplace litigation.

Pylontech has started mass production of its 588Ah and 601Ah prismatic LFP cells for energy storage systems at its Hefei manufacturing base, the company announced on September 21. More than 100MWh of the new cells have already been produced, and they are being integrated into Pylontech's next-generation PyOcean 6.25MWh and 8MWh energy storage systems, which are set to enter project delivery. The 601Ah cell achieves an energy density of 425.8Wh/L, a cycle life of more than 12,000 cycles and energy efficiency of 96.5%. Production at the Hefei base is supported by fully automated core processes, more than 120 industrial robots and 180 sets of intelligent manufacturing equipment, with the company's manufacturing execution system providing 100% end-to-end traceability for every cell. The move expands Pylontech's presence in the utility-scale energy storage market, where it has supplied systems for projects including a 120MW/240MWh energy storage project in Yangzhou, Jiangsu, a 200MW/400MWh standalone BESS in Ningxia, and projects in Europe.

Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. announced its new Chip-to-Grid Reference Designs, an integrated blueprint for AI factories built with NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 and future next-generation NVIDIA AI infrastructure. The designs target hyperscale, neocloud, and colocation operators across North America, providing scalable architecture built around 250 MW deployment blocks that support expansion to gigawatt-scale campuses and enable rack densities to grow from approximately 200 kW today to more than 1 MW per rack. Each 250 MW deployment block can operate islanded, using on-site generation and battery energy storage with a pathway to future utility interconnection, or grid connected. The framework integrates utility interconnection, on-site generation, battery energy storage, electrical distribution, advanced cooling, and facility controls, and aligns with NVIDIA MGX rack-scale accelerated computing platforms and the NVIDIA Vera Rubin DSX AI Factory Reference Design infrastructure provisioning strategy.
