Volkswagen AGAudi's revenue drop due to weaker vehicle sales in China and US, and Volkswagen's own 9.5% profit decline, indicate lower demand for Volkswagen group vehicles.
Audi reported a 12.5% decline in second-quarter revenue for the broader Audi group, which includes Lamborghini, Bentley, and Ducati, to 15 billion euros, or approximately 17.1 billion dollars, amid weaker vehicle sales in China and the United States. Operating profit fell 3% to 533 million euros, yielding an operating margin of 3.6%, well below the company's revised 2026 target of between 5% and 7%. Audi has reduced its full-year guidance and is coordinating with parent company Volkswagen on a comprehensive restructuring, including cutting production capacity at its Neckarsulm factory, one of four German Volkswagen plants facing possible closure after 2030. The Neckarsulm plant's annual capacity has been lowered to 225,000 vehicles, about 75,000 below previous levels, and its night shift will be eliminated. Volkswagen itself reported a 9.5% decline in second-quarter profit as it prepares for difficult labor discussions and further job reductions under CEO Oliver Blume.
