Goldman Sachs Group IncGoldman Sachs forecast that Brent crude could surge past $120 per barrel if oil flows through Strait of Hormuz are disrupted, which could boost its commodities trading revenue.

The baht is expected to move in a range of 33.65 to 34.00 per dollar today, with the main factor being tensions in the Middle East after Houthi forces attacked a Saudi oil tanker in the Red Sea. This sent global crude oil prices above 95 dollars per barrel, and Goldman Sachs forecasts that Brent crude could surge past 120 dollars per barrel in the fourth quarter of 2026 if oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz are disrupted for an extended period. Meanwhile, the financial markets group at Siam Commercial Bank estimates a narrower range of 33.65 to 33.90 per dollar, while the money market and international transactions division at TTB disclosed that the baht opened at 33.80 per dollar and expects a range of 33.70 to 34.00 per dollar today. Foreign investors sold a net 85 million baht in Thai stocks and a net 1.956 billion baht in Thai bonds yesterday. The market is also watching the Federal Reserve's monetary policy meeting next week, where it is expected to keep interest rates at 3.50 to 3.75 percent.
