West Texas Intermediate and Brent crude prices climbed to their highest levels in five weeks amid supply concerns from the Middle East conflict. WTI stood at 84.91 dollars per barrel, up 1.68 dollars, and Brent at 91.01 dollars per barrel, up 1.79 dollars. The oil price analysis unit of Thai Oil Public Company Limited reported that the United States struck Iranian military targets for the eleventh consecutive night, while Iran retaliated by attacking US targets in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan, as well as oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. Additionally, Houthi rebels in Yemen threatened to attack Saudi Arabian oil tankers and blockade shipping lanes in the Red Sea, causing at least two tankers carrying Saudi crude to China and India to reroute via the Suez Canal. Saudi Arabia's crude exports in May 2026 fell to a record low of 3.4 million barrels per day, down from 4.0 million barrels per day the previous month. Meanwhile, US crude inventories rose by 2.6 million barrels, contrary to analyst expectations of a 0.5 million barrel decline.
