Eni S.p.A.Eni acquires 32% stake in Vaca Muerta blocks to supply gas to Argentina LNG project, securing long-term demand for its gas resources.

Eni has signed an agreement to acquire a 32% stake in three unconventional gas blocks in Argentina's Vaca Muerta shale formation. The blocks—Meseta Buena Esperanza, Aguada Villanueva, and Las Tacanas—will supply gas to the Argentina LNG project, an integrated development targeting 12 million metric tons per year of LNG export capacity through two floating LNG units. Once the deal closes, ownership will be split between YPF at 36%, Eni at 32%, and XRG at 32%. Eni's Chief Operating Officer for Global Natural Resources, Guido Brusco, said the move strengthens the company's ability to develop world-scale gas resources for international markets. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals.
