Brent crude futures surged past 100 dollars a barrel for the first time since May, and West Texas Intermediate crude settled above 92 dollars, after the US military launched a new wave of airstrikes against Iran and Iran retaliated by attacking US bases in the region. President Donald Trump also signaled threats of major military action against Iran and the Houthis, after the Houthis attacked two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea. In European markets, the Stoxx 600 index closed at 639.27, down 7.66 points or 1.18%, with technology stocks falling 2.9%, led by STMicroelectronics which plunged 17.7% after forecasting third-quarter revenue below expectations. Asian markets opened lower this morning, with Japan's Nikkei index opening down the most in the region at 1.26%, followed by South Korea's Kospi index tumbling 2.58%, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index, China's Shanghai Composite Index, and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 all also declined. The Thai stock market is expected to consolidate in line with global trends. A stock to watch is Gulf, after its subsidiary Gulf Edge announced a partnership with Cognizant, a global leader in technology and AI development, to form a strategic collaboration in artificial intelligence and related services, aiming to accelerate Thailand's transition into the AI era.
