NWPX Infrastructure, Inc.Iran missile attack on tankers raises oil prices and inflation fears, hurting industrial sector.
Shares of Northwest Pipe, Powell, and SPX Technologies each fell 6.4% after Iran's missile attack on commercial tankers near the Strait of Hormuz pushed oil prices higher and revived inflation fears, a double blow for the industrial sector squeezed by rising fuel costs and rising borrowing costs. Brent crude rose toward $75 and WTI to around $71, while the Industrial Select Sector SPDR fell about 2%. The attack struck a Qatari LNG tanker and damaged a Saudi crude tanker, ending a brief truce and reasserting the fragility of the U.S.–Iran interim peace. The oil-driven inflation impulse landed just as new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh turned hawkish, with nine of eighteen officials penciling in a 2026 hike, pushing the 10-year Treasury yield to roughly 4.47%.
