NRG Energy Inc.Commences 456MW gas units and pays dividend, with debt refinancing saving over $10M annually.

NRG Energy has commenced commercial operations of 456 megawatts of new natural gas-fueled capacity at its TH Wharton Generating Station and paid a quarterly dividend of US$0.4750 per share on August 17, 2026. The new Wharton units reinforce near-term reliability and cash flow but do not fundamentally change the key catalyst of stabilizing profitability or the risk around long-term fossil fuel and balance sheet exposure. The company recently issued US$2.6 billion of senior unsecured notes and a US$900 million Term Loan B to refinance debt, with management flagging more than US$10 million in annual interest savings. NRG Energy's narrative projects US$38.1 billion in revenue and US$2.6 billion in earnings by 2029, with a fair value estimate of US$198.06 per share, representing a 47% upside to its current price.
