More than 500 million shares changed hands, and the company ended the day with a $2.1 trillion market capitalization, surpassing Tesla and entering the top 10 most valuable companies globally. Other space stocks declined on the same day, with Rocket Lab falling more than 10%, ASTSpaceMobile dropping 15.5%, and EchoStar losing nearly 11%, as Bloomberg reported that retail investors had submitted over $100 billion in orders for SpaceX ahead of the IPO.
