SpaceX closed its first day of trading on June 12 with a market capitalization of $2.11 trillion, making it the seventh-most-valuable company in the world behind Nvidia, Alphabet, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing. The company raised $75 billion by selling 555.6 million shares at $135 each, and an accelerated lockup policy could allow insiders to sell sooner if the stock performs well, potentially adding volatility. S&P Dow Jones Indices decided not to fast-track SpaceX into the S&P 500 based solely on market cap, meaning it must wait at least 12 months and meet other criteria, which will reduce demand from index funds. SpaceX reported $18.67 billion in 2025 revenue and a net loss of $4.94 billion, but Morgan Stanley projects revenue could reach $330 billion by 2030 and $3.4 trillion by 2040, driven by aerospace, satellites, and artificial intelligence. The company’s Starlink subscriber base grew from 2.3 million at the end of 2023 to 8.9 million in 2025, and it also owns the AI model Grok and social media platform X.
