Stellantis NVStellantis's warranty costs hit 4.4% of revenue, far above industry norm, indicating margin pressure from product quality issues.
Stellantis recorded $7.4 billion in warranty expenses in 2025, pushing its warranty costs to 4.4% of total revenue, well above the industry historical norm of 2% to 3% and higher than Ford's 3.1% ratio. While Ford led the U.S. in recall volume with 153 recalls last year, roughly 80% were addressed by over-the-air software updates, helping it lower warranty claims costs to $5.73 billion. Stellantis had 53 recalls, but a greater share required costly dealership repairs, driving its warranty expenses higher. The automaker is betting on a $70 billion turnaround plan, with about 60% of the $42 billion earmarked for products and brands going to North America, where it aims to introduce 11 all-new vehicles by 2030 and grow regional sales volume by 35%. If Stellantis can improve vehicle quality and reduce warranty costs, the plan could revive market share and profitability.
