Tesla exhausted its allocated MyFirstEV rebate funds, reducing a demand incentive for its EVs.

Tesla has depleted all of its allocated funds under California's MyFirstEV program just four days after the program launched on August 3, 2026. The program, championed by Governor Gavin Newsom, offers a $3,500 instant discount on new EVs and $1,750 on used EVs for first-time buyers. Tesla confirmed on its website that the incentive is no longer available, after having announced on Friday that only 30% of funds remained. Governor Newsom, speaking at a program event, highlighted California's environmental progress, including $6 billion invested in EV infrastructure and 2.5 million cumulative EV sales since 2019.
