Tesla retains majority U.S. EV market share but sales drop and share declines in Europe/China.

Tesla maintained its majority share of the U.S. electric vehicle market in the second quarter, accounting for 50.5% of unit sales according to Cox Automotive, down from 54.2% in the first quarter. Total U.S. EV sales fell 20% during the quarter, while Tesla's U.S. unit sales declined 13% year over year to 124,800 vehicles. The company's global deliveries rose 25% to 480,126 units, but Tesla lost market share in Europe and China to competitors including BYD, Geely, Changan, and Volkswagen. CEO Elon Musk has suggested the company's AI-powered humanoid robots could begin commercial production before the end of next year.
