Deliveries beat consensus on China and Europe strength, but stock driven by robotaxi/Optimus/AI narratives, not fundamentals.

Tesla is expected to report second quarter deliveries of 418,000 units according to Barclays, well above the consensus estimate of 396,000. Morgan Stanley also raised its forecast to 413,000 from a prior 373,000, citing improvement in Europe and solid China volumes despite a weaker domestic market. While U.S. trends remain softer, the gains in Europe and China are projected to drive year-over-year deliveries growth of 7.6%. Analysts noted that fundamentals such as deliveries and margins have become an afterthought for investors, with the stock driven almost exclusively by narratives around robotaxi, Optimus, and AI.
