Bangkok Bank PCLProfit came in below expectations, triggering sell-on-fact selling.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand index on July 22, 2026 closed at 1,639.34 points, down 13.63 points or 0.82%, with trading value of 116.52 billion baht. The market was pressured by tensions in the Middle East and sell-on-fact selling in banking stocks after all banks reported second-quarter 2026 earnings. BBL was heavily sold as profit came in below expectations, while SCB, KTB, and KBANK also declined. Large-cap stocks such as PTT, GULF, and ADVANC also fell, adding further pressure. However, there was speculative buying in stocks expected to post good results on the back of rising global oil prices, such as PTTGC and PTTEP.
