Robinhood Markets shares rose about 2% to roughly $115 on Monday, extending their weekly gain to about 13.39%, after the official launch of Trump Accounts, a new tax-advantaged investment program for U.S. children. The program provides a $1,000 government contribution to eligible U.S. citizens born between 2025 and 2028, with contributions automatically invested in a low-cost index fund. Once the child turns 18, the account converts into a traditional IRA, while family, friends, and employers can collectively contribute up to $5,000 annually. President Donald Trump marked the launch by ringing the opening bell alongside the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq from the White House, and he reportedly suggested that Bitcoin could eventually be included in the program. Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev said in a CNBC interview that the company generates revenue from the program and called it a tremendous honor to be associated with it.
