U.S. stock futures fell and Treasury yields ticked higher after Brent crude oil topped $100 a barrel for the first time since July, with American forces destroying five Iranian oil tankers in response to attacks on U.S. warships. Brent crude for November delivery rose 3% to $100.85 a barrel, while WTI gained 2.7% to $95.58. The Dow Jones Industrial Average futures led losses, shedding 207 points, or 0.6%, while S&P 500 futures fell 0.35% and Nasdaq futures slipped 0.45%. Meta stock jumped more than 5% premarket after releasing its new AI agent, Muse. Treasury yields rose, with 10-year yields up 1.8 basis points to 4.812% and 30-year yields up 0.4 basis points to 5.252%. European stocks fell sharply, with the Stoxx 600 dropping 1.5%, as natural gas prices hit a three-year high. The yen strengthened against the dollar after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he is "the house now," with the greenback dropping 0.6% to 153.05 yen.
