Vertex Pharmaceuticals agreed to acquire Crinetics Pharmaceuticals for approximately $10 billion, or $85.00 per share in all cash, sending Crinetics shares up 99% this week. The deal, unanimously approved by both boards and expected to close in Q3 2026, gives Vertex Crinetics' endocrine franchise, including the approved acromegaly treatment PALSONIFY and the Phase 3 candidate atumelnant for congenital adrenal hyperplasia and Cushing's syndrome. Vertex projects the acquired assets could deliver over $5 billion in peak annual sales and contribute earnings accretion by 2029. The acquisition also lifted shares of endocrine rare-disease peers, with Neurocrine Biosciences gaining 6.24%, Corcept Therapeutics rising 5.04%, and Ascendis Pharma adding 3.51%, as investors repriced potential M&A targets. Crinetics stock is trading just under the $85 cash offer, capping upside unless a competing bid emerges.
