Calbee to bring back color packaging for potato chips and other snacks, starting with the front side
Calbee announced on the 9th that it will gradually return to full-color packaging for products such as Potato Chips and Kappa Ebisen, which had been switched to black-and-white designs. The move comes in response to the procurement outlook for printing materials, which had become unstable due to the situation in the Middle East. For Potato Chips and Kappa Ebisen, only the front of the package will be in full color, while the back will remain predominantly black-and-white. Five Potato Chips products, including the lightly salted flavor, will be affected, with the new packaging scheduled to roll out nationwide from August onward through sales channels other than convenience stores. Meanwhile, two products from the Fruit Granola line will feature full-color printing on both sides starting July 27. The company explained that color packaging plays an important role in properly conveying product information, and stated that it will continue to respond nimbly and flexibly to changes in the business environment, including geopolitical risks.
