4 Insurance Stocks Benefit from Household Disaster Insurance Project

Krungsri Securities stated that the mobile cabinet meeting in Songkhla Province, scheduled from August 30 to September 1, 2026, is expected to consider several major projects, including the household disaster insurance project covering 20 million households, which will benefit insurance stocks, especially BKIH, TIPH, MTI, and THRE, as they have opportunities to gain new business. However, the research department assesses that there is not yet sufficient clear information to evaluate the impact on business, so it recommends short-term speculation. All projects under consideration this time have a total budget of approximately 163 billion baht, accounting for 0.86% of GDP, comprising a budget of over 57 billion baht for the five southern border provinces and the second phase of the southern dual-track railway project with three routes, totaling 106.797 billion baht, covering a total distance of 504 kilometers, connecting from Chumphon to Padang Besar.

BKIH Wins Best Insurance Company Award for 2026, Tightens Risk Controls on EVs and War-Zone Waters

BKI Holdings, or BKIH, has won the Best Company of the Year 2026 award in the insurance and life insurance category at the Money & Banking Awards 2026. Its subsidiary, Bangkok Insurance, was a key driver of this achievement. Dr. Apisit Anantanatarat, director and chairman of the executive board, revealed that the company continues to employ a cautious underwriting strategy for electric vehicles, as the loss ratio for EVs is high to very high due to standard service center costs and high battery values. Additionally, the company has a policy of excluding coverage in waters highly vulnerable to war risks, such as the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Strait of Hormuz, to cope with geopolitical tensions. If operators wish to purchase additional coverage, premium rates will be adjusted upward according to the actual risk level. Winning the award for the third consecutive year reflects management in line with ESG principles and the creation of sustainable growth.
