TVH Targets 8 Billion Baht Premiums, 5% Growth, Using Holding as Reserve Ammunition

Thai Wiwat Holdings Public Company Limited (TVH) targets total written premiums this year of approximately 8 billion baht, growing about 5% from the previous year, by using technology to analyze consumer needs and improving internal systems to reduce costs. Meanwhile, the restructuring into a holding company aims to increase flexibility in management and investment, allowing the company to retain excess funds at the holding level instead of paying out all dividends, to serve as reserve capital to support insurance companies in case of severe disasters, and to increase flexibility in investing in other businesses or partnering with other insurance companies. Additionally, TVH plays a role in national disaster risk management, working with the General Insurance Association, the Office of Insurance Commission, and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation to finalize disaster insurance guidelines covering approximately 30 million households. However, there are challenges from potential damage values up to 40 billion baht, while written premiums are only in the tens of billions of baht, necessitating risk distribution to international reinsurers. The company will also use a Training for Trainer model to train village headmen and sub-district headmen to convey knowledge about claim payment conditions to the public accurately.
