Its services cover areas such as biomechanics, biomedical engineering, civil and structural engineering, data sciences, electrical engineering, materials and corrosion engineering, mechanical engineering, polymer and chemistry, thermal sciences, and vehicle engineering, as well as chemical regulation, food safety, ecological and biological sciences, environmental and earth sciences, and health sciences. The company also provides product safety, litigation support, and technical and regulatory services to clients in sectors including chemicals, construction, consumer products, energy, food and nutrition, government, life sciences, insurance, manufacturing, technology, industrial equipment, and transportation. Formerly known as The Failure Group, Inc., it changed its name to Exponent, Inc. in 1998. Founded in 1967, it is headquartered in Menlo Park, California.
