MetaVia CEO outlines obesity and MASH strategy, expects key data by year-end

MetaVia CEO HH Kim and CFO Marshall Woodworth discussed the company's dual focus on obesity and MASH during the OTC Markets Life Sciences Investor Forum. Kim highlighted that the GLP-1/glucagon dual agonist DA-1726, with a 3:1 balance, showed 9.1% weight loss and a 10-centimeter waist reduction in an eight-week phase one study without titration, and that the ongoing part three titration study aims to improve tolerability with top-line data expected before the end of 2024. For the MASH candidate danuglipron, a GPR119 agonist, Kim noted promising preclinical combination data with resmetirom showing 22% weight loss in mice without reduced food intake, and an FDA meeting is planned for the second half of the year to discuss a potential biopsy-free phase three trial. Kim emphasized that the company is actively engaged with large pharmaceutical partners and believes 2024 will be a breakout year for MetaVia.
