Van Lanschot Kempen H1 2026: Record Inflows, NII Guidance Raised

Van Lanschot Kempen NV reported strong net inflows of EUR19.5 billion in H1 2026, pushing clients' assets above the EUR200 billion milestone for the first time, while net results rose 30% to EUR88 million and the cost-income ratio improved to 66.4%, beating its 67%-70% target. Net interest income jumped 27% to EUR97 million, prompting the company to raise its full-year guidance to around EUR200 million, up from the previous EUR180-195 million range. The bank also secured several large fiduciary mandates, including Dutch pension fund SPW, its largest single client ever. However, net inflows in Belgium were lower due to temporary underperformance of its value-based strategy and fading share-of-wallet gains, while investment banking commission income declined. CFO Jeroen Coos attributed the NII upgrade to both loan growth and unanticipated interest rate movements, and noted that the increase in other loans, particularly Lombard lending, is a recurring strategic focus. Chairman Martin Aldershof confirmed M&A remains key to its growth strategy, with active pursuit of bolt-on acquisitions in Belgium and the Netherlands, and expressed optimism about the Swiss franchise as a future growth driver.
