WH Group Limited is an investment holding company that produces and sells packaged meats, pork, and hogs in China, North America, and Europe. It operates through three segments: Packaged Meats, Pork, and Others. The company is involved in the production, wholesale, and retail sale of low- and high-temperature meat products; hog farming, slaughtering, and wholesale and retail sale of fresh and frozen pork; slaughtering, production, and sale of poultry; and sale of ancillary products and services such as logistics, supply chain management, flavoring ingredients, natural casings, condiments, biological pharmaceutical materials, and packaging materials. It also operates finance and property development companies, a chain of retail food stores, and livestock breeding. Founded in 1958, WH Group is headquartered in Kowloon, Hong Kong.

Smithfield Lobbyist Admits Chinese Owner's Interest After Complaint

Following a federal complaint filed August 3 by the Center for Responsible Food Business, Smithfield Foods' lobbying firm Greenberg Traurig has amended its second-quarter report to disclose that WH Group, which owns 86.9% of Smithfield, has an interest in lobbying on the Farm Bill and foreign ownership of U.S. agricultural land. The original report, filed July 20, denied any foreign interest, covering $120,000 in lobbying. The amendment came fifteen days after the complaint, but fourteen of the fifteen quarterly reports since 2023 remain uncorrected. CRFB President Taylor Warren criticized the omission, saying it suggests Smithfield never intended to admit its lobbyists represent China.

WH Group first-half profit climbs to $484 million

WH Group Limited reported a rise in first-half earnings, with net income reaching $484 million, or $1.23 per share, up from $412 million, or $1.05 per share, in the same period last year. Revenue edged down 0.8% to $7.500 billion from $7.558 billion a year earlier.
