Johnson Outdoors Inc. designs, manufactures, and markets seasonal and outdoor recreation products for fishing worldwide. It operates through three segments: Fishing; Camping & Watercraft Recreation; and Diving. The Fishing segment offers electric motors, marine battery chargers, shallow water anchors, sonar and GPS equipment, and downriggers under the Minn Kota, Humminbird, and Cannon brands. The Camping & Watercraft Recreation segment provides portable outdoor cooking systems and accessories under the Jetboil brand, and kayaks, canoes, personal watercraft equipment, and paddles under the Old Town and Carlisle brands. The Diving segment manufactures and markets underwater diving and snorkeling equipment under the SCUBAPRO brand, and also offers maintenance, repair, diving education, and travel program services. The company was founded in 1970 and is headquartered in Racine, Wisconsin.

Johnson Outdoors third-quarter profit jumps on tariff refunds

Johnson Outdoors reported a sharp increase in third-quarter profit, with net income rising to $14.9 million, or $1.42 per diluted share, from $7.7 million, or $0.75 per diluted share, a year earlier. Total company net sales grew 5 percent to $189.7 million, driven by a 7 percent increase in fishing revenue and a 10 percent gain in diving sales, while camping and watercraft recreation sales fell 13 percent. Operating income more than doubled to $18.3 million, helped by approximately $15 million in tariff refunds that lifted gross margin to 45.3 percent from 37.6 percent. For the first nine months of fiscal 2026, net sales rose 15 percent to $525.1 million and the company swung to a net profit of $21.1 million, or $2.00 per diluted share, from a loss of $5.2 million, or $0.52 per diluted share, in the prior-year period. Cash and short-term investments stood at $175.2 million at quarter-end, and the board approved a quarterly cash dividend payable on July 30, 2026.
