JSP reveals vending machine sales: condoms top, boosting sexual health products to 29%

Mr. Phitsanu Daengprasert, chairman of JSP Pharmaceutical Manufacturing (Thailand) Public Company Limited, revealed that based on sales data collected from 185 automated medicine vending machines in Bangkok and its vicinity over the past year, sexual health products accounted for the highest sales share at 29%, particularly in university areas. The top-selling product category was condoms, with sales of 1.61 million baht, followed by hangover jelly at 636,333 baht, lubricant gel at 609,375 baht, and 4-in-1 test kits at 480,965 baht. Other categories included general household medicines at 16.2%, candies and lozenges at 12.8%, personal care and hygiene items at 12.6%, and health test kits at 11.0%. JSP believes that purchasing through vending machines appeals to the younger generation due to privacy and easy access, and notes that this behavior is a positive sign for sexual health prevention amid the HIV situation, with an average of 8,000-9,000 new infections per year, syphilis cases rising 2.7 times to 11,813, and gonorrhea cases increasing 2.5 times to 9,897. The company is ready to support the expansion of "Warm Heart Medicine Vending Machine" service points and continue its strategy to grow its health business, including pharmaceuticals, supplements, and health products, through retail stores, online channels, and vending machines.
