GCAP GOLD Sees Gold Consolidating, Eyes US Inflation Data, Hoping for Break Above 4,500

GCAP GOLD, or G Capital Company Limited, assesses that gold prices remain in a consolidation phase, with the market watching US inflation figures, both PPI and CPI, which will be a key factor in signaling the Fed's interest rate direction at its meeting on September 15-16. Miss Areerat Murachai, Chief Analyst at G Capital Company Limited, stated that gold prices have not yet fully returned to an uptrend after attempting to recover and test a key resistance level around 4,500 dollars, before facing selling pressure from stronger-than-expected US labor market data, together with a recovery in the dollar and US government bond yields, causing gold prices to pull back to trade near 4,400 dollars. The research team therefore recommends a strategy of waiting to buy once prices establish a base, with a key support level at 4,370-4,330 dollars, or about 68,000-67,300 baht for Thai gold, and a profit target around 4,500-4,520 dollars, or about 70,000-70,200 baht for Thai gold. If prices fall below 4,300 dollars, or about 67,000 baht for Thai gold, rushing to buy is still not recommended, but if prices can hold firmly above 4,500 dollars, it will increase the chance that gold prices will enter another recovery cycle.

GCAP reports Q2 2026 swing to loss on provisions for agricultural and tourism debtors

G Capital Public Company Limited, or GCAP, reported a net loss of 10.86 million baht in the second quarter of 2026 due to setting aside expected credit loss provisions for hire-purchase debtors in the agriculture and tourism sectors, which were affected by conflict in the Persian Gulf region and oil price volatility. Meanwhile, the non-performing loan ratio of the hire-purchase credit portfolio fell to 3.68 percent as of 30 June 2026, from 7 percent at the end of 2025, and total loan disbursements in the first six months of 2026 stood at 88.40 million baht. The company said it will accelerate loan disbursements in the second half of the year, focus on expanding quality lending, increase the diversity of credit products to capture opportunities in agriculture and tourism, and build on new businesses such as hire-purchase loans for electric motorcycles for tourism in the Koh Tao area of Surat Thani province.

GCAP GOLD says slowing CPI supports gold, recommends waiting to buy on dips

GCAP GOLD says the slowing US consumer price index reduces pressure on the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates and supports gold prices above 4,400 dollars per ounce, testing the highest level in more than two months. Headline CPI for July fell from 3.5 percent to 3.4 percent, and core CPI fell from 2.6 percent to 2.5 percent, causing the market to cut the probability of a September rate hike to around 40 percent. Meanwhile, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz remains unresolved, with Brent crude still trading near 89 dollars per barrel and WTI above 83 dollars per barrel, making energy and inflation risks key variables for the market. Analysts assess short-term support at 4,350 to 4,320 dollars per ounce, or Thai gold prices around 67,900 to 67,500 baht, and profit targets at 4,450 to 4,500 dollars per ounce, or Thai gold prices around 69,500 to 70,200 baht. They recommend a strategy of waiting to buy on price dips and delaying purchases if the price falls below 4,300 dollars per ounce, or 67,000 baht for Thai gold.

GCAP GOLD warns of sharp gold volatility, eyes US-Iran talks and US jobs data

GCAP GOLD says gold prices are likely to see high volatility, with two key factors to watch: progress in talks between the United States and Iran, which could lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz this week, and the release of US non-farm payrolls on Friday. The market expects an increase of 85,000 jobs, up from 57,000 in June, with the unemployment rate steady at 4.2 percent. If the data meets or beats expectations, the Federal Reserve may press ahead with tightening, the dollar could strengthen, and gold may pull back. But if it disappoints, rate-hike pressure would ease, supporting a gold recovery. Analysts recommend waiting to buy on dips near support at 4,160 to 4,120 dollars, or around 64,800 to 64,500 baht for Thai gold, and avoiding chasing rallies. Key resistance is seen at 4,330 to 4,365 dollars, or roughly 67,300 to 67,800 baht.
