Summary · why it matters

Foreign investors returned to buying Thai stocks, with net purchases of 52.68226 billion baht from the start of the year through September 22, comprising 6.60989403 trillion baht in buys and 6.55721177 trillion baht in sells. In September alone, net buying reached 1.31328 billion baht, from 626.56138 billion baht in buys and 625.24810 billion baht in sells, marking the highest foreign buying in two months and making the Thai stock market the most sought-after in ASEAN. The supporting factor came from Meta's launch of a new AI model with higher processing efficiency, offered free of charge, which the market expects will extend its advertising business and accelerate demand for AI CAPEX, benefiting Thai component stocks, especially DELTA and HANA. Meanwhile, Infra Tech stocks drew support from the NBTC's proposal for a data center board to set new investment criteria, including requiring operators to have power purchase agreements and water supply certificates, to use domestic materials no less than 50%, and to add sustainability requirements. This is expected to boost industrial estate stocks such as AMATA and WHA, power stocks such as GULF, BGRIM and GUNKUL, bank stocks such as KBANK, KTB, KKP and BBL, as well as contractor stocks such as STECON, PYLON and INSET. At the same time, the Cabinet meeting approved extending the Thai Help Thai Plus 40/60 Phase 2 project by another 2 months, from October 1 to November 30, 2026, with a total budget of 42.69 billion baht, and approved an additional 700 baht per person in product purchase credit for state welfare cardholders for October only, bringing the total injection to 1,000 baht per person. This measure is expected to benefit retail stocks such as CPAXT, BJC and CPALL, as well as consumer goods stocks such as CBG and OSP, in a second-round effect.

PM Leads New York Roadshow, Meets Global Funds Worth 40 Trillion Dollars Interested in Thai Data Centers

A Thai government delegation led by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, together with Supajee Suthumpun, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, Chaichanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Paiboon Nalinthrangkurn, Chairman of the Thai Capital Market Business Council, and Asadej Kongsiri, Director and Manager of the Stock Exchange of Thailand, traveled to a roadshow at Bank of America in New York on September 22, 2026, to present Thailand's potential to about 25 major institutional investors and global businesses. They were welcomed by Bernard Mensah, President of International at Bank of America, and Orakanya Piboontham, Managing Director of Bank of America National Association. Orakanya said most of the funds taking part already invest in Thailand, such as BlackRock, Blackstone, Citadel and Fidelity, with combined assets under management of about 40 trillion US dollars. A separate one-on-one meeting chose to hold discussions with Pacific Investment Management Company, or PIMCO, which has about 2.5 trillion US dollars in assets under management and has begun expanding into the data center business through lending or buying bonds of data center operators. Supajee disclosed that investors are very interested in Thailand, especially investment in infrastructure funds and the data center business, because Thailand has the advantage of being a hub of the ASEAN region in terms of geopolitics, infrastructure connectivity and internet connectivity through cables. The Prime Minister confirmed cooperation with Microsoft and affirmed that the government attaches great importance to strict fiscal discipline, with borrowing still within the set ceiling. Paiboon said that over the past three years about 500 billion baht, or roughly 15 billion US dollars, in foreign capital flowed out of the Thai market, while this year about 1.5 billion dollars, or roughly 50 billion baht, has flowed back in, accounting for about 10 percent of the money that had flowed out. The Prime Minister has set a goal of driving Thailand from a middle-income country to a high-income country by 2037 and raising the investment-to-GDP ratio to 30 percent.

Nvidia and Aolani to Deploy 22,000 GPUs Across Southeast Asia AI Factory Hubs

Nvidia and Aolani have agreed to deploy 22,000 GPUs across new AI factory sites in Southeast Asia, part of a buildout that will add over 100 megawatts of new AI factory capacity. The rollout includes major hubs in Malaysia and the Philippines and is intended to position Southeast Asia as a global node for AI compute and data center infrastructure. The 22,000 GPU deployment is one part of the broader Nvidia story, and the company is embedding its full stack into facilities that cloud providers and enterprises can rent as ready-made compute capacity rather than selling chips in isolation. The key marker ahead is whether Aolani meets its early 2027 target to bring those 22,000 GPUs online across Malaysia and the Philippines at the planned 100 megawatt plus capacity, with progress updates on site construction, GPU installation timing and initial customer occupancy indicating how quickly the commitment converts into live, billable compute.

Alibaba Expands Data Centers to Europe and Middle East in AI Push

Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. is accelerating its data center expansion in Europe and the Middle East as part of a 20-gigawatt global infrastructure buildout. Alibaba executive Li Feifei said at the company's Apsara conference in Hangzhou on Wednesday that the Chinese e-commerce leader will set up its first cloud regions in Turkey, Finland and the Netherlands over the next 12 months. The company will also expand its data center footprint in Malaysia, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, France and Hong Kong, boosting its ability to provide localized cloud and AI services. The push puts Alibaba increasingly head-to-head with Western competitors such as Amazon.com Group Inc. and Alphabet Inc. beyond Asia. Alibaba has outlined a $53 billion, three-year AI investment plan and aims to build a 20-gigawatt global data center network by 2032, which Citigroup estimates could drive more than $160 billion in external cloud revenue.
